South County Outreach (SCO), founded in 1989, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing homeless prevention services to low-income individuals and families in crisis in South Orange County. South County Outreach is a nonprofit organization committed to preventing hunger and homelessness in Orange County by helping people in need help themselves. Requirements: - Must provide copy of driver's license, driver's insurance, and a clean driving record. *Hours vary depending on the daily pickup schedule. Pickups typically occur between 8:00am - 12:00pm. Time Commitment: We are currently looking for weekly, ongoing volunteers that can commit to one shift each week (3 - 4 hours). Responsibilities: Drive the South County Outreach trucks out to local stores, businesses, and other organizations to pick up food donations and deliver them back to the South County Outreach Food Pantry. Our drivers and ride-along volunteers assist us with picking up food donations from local grocery stores and business donors, food drives, and community events and delivering the donations to our pantry. Additional tasks will include front end, customer service shifts to assess clients as well as provide in-person assistance with resources. Responsibilities: Client Engagement Volunteers assist the Homeless Prevention Department to fill the vital role of returning calls, completing phone screenings, and administering rental/utility assistance applications.
